{creating dreams come true} adventure: let life scoop you up and bring you somewhere

it’s sunday – which means it’s creating dreams come true day. creating dreams come true is an ongoing free e-course and creative community to support you in living your dreams. if you are new, please feel free to join in. the more creative dreamers the better!

i am currently making one of my big dreams come true – i am on vacation in turkey and egypt! thanks to the magic of technology, i was able to write this post ahead of time and schedule it to post now so that the creating dreams come true posts continue to go out while i am away and your creative adventure continues. please be aware that i am not checking in while i’m away, so i won’t be answering questions or commenting on posts. so i encourage you to visit each other, to support each other and cheer each other on with your dreams. i’ll be back march 15.

adventure gets us out of our routines, shakes us up a bit, it is fun and exciting and even thrilling.  adventure generates positive energy and positive energy fuels creative dreams.

adventure can be big or small, all that is really needed is an open mind and a willingness to have an adventure.

one day i was at a new restaurant with a friend.  he asked “where’s the washroom?” and i said “i don’t know” and he said “well then, i’m off on an adventure!”.  you can go quietly look around for the washroom, you ask the waitress and get the best route to the washroom or you can take an adventurous path and be open to what happens along the way.

taking the adventurous path opens up new possibilities because it puts you in new situations.  talk to strangers, go places you haven’t been, do something that scares you.

your dreams are all around you waiting for the opportunity to come in.  shaking things up with an adventure provides an opportunity.  and it’s fun.

i am adventuring right now in turkey and egypt.  on the day when this post is posted, i will have just flown back to istanbul from cairo, and trying to make my way to cappadocia.  cappadocia has things like cave hotels carved into mountains:

underground cities and houses that look like fairy chimneys – the whole area just feels like an adventure to me.  we don’t know how we’re getting there from istanbul (it’s about a 12 hour drive) though we have done some research so we know what the possibilities are.  there are planes, buses and overnight trains.  we’re going to wait and see what feels like the most fun, and do that.

but a vacation itself isn’t necessarily an adventure.  adventure is more of a state of mind.  opening up and letting spontaneity flow, letting life scoop you up and bring you somewhere.  letting go of control.

creative dream assignment for next week: go on an adventure this week.  report back next sunday.

creative dream check-in:

my check-in: i did create a new space for a dream the week that i wrote this (i am writing this on feb 18).  to support my dreams of being healthier, stronger, more fit and more present in my body, i turned my living room into a yoga room.  it’s delicious!  a peaceful haven to come into and do yoga.  a wall lined with buddha statues, flowers and candles.  peaceful lighting.  a mat in a position where it’s easy to see the tv and follow along with my yoga dvds.  creating this space has supported me in enjoying my yoga practice more fully and doing it more often.  i will share more about this change, and some photos of the space, later on.

meet in the comments section below to share what happened when you investigated ways to create more space for your dreams. also don’t feel shy about checking in even if you didn’t do last week’s assignment. just let us know what is happening with your dreams – we love watching them grow.

(remember i am away and will not be commenting. i encourage you to visit each other, to support each other and cheer each other on with your dreams.)

Taking to the time to create potential seems crucial. How can we expect ourselves to jump out of bed and be our best when our desks are cluttered, the living room is messy — this just seems to make it harder!!
There are some changes happening in my house right now — and I am planning some potential into the new layout!

Know you are having fun – see you when you get back :)

I haven’t yet made room for my dream…but I’ve been thinking about it all week. I did take the time to do the exercises my Physical Therapists had given me on Sunday and Friday night…but my back was really bothering me all week. Maybe I’ll take a hot bath later…

  3. While I wait to take possession of my stunning new office space, I decided to take advantage of the stunning weather and begin spring cleaning! With the dirt and clutter of winterhibernation gone, my creativity has a place to flow – and i need it! I have three new murder mystery games I have to write for events taking place in the next two weeks, so I need the creativity to flow!

My creative space is coming along ok… I am making do with what I have and just trying to make best use of the space I have. As for my adventure… I have all my back up info for my new book, so my adventure will begin as soon as I begin to type. I cannot wait to see where I end up with this one.
Hope you are still enjoying your adventure too!

Reta, I totally agree with you. A cluttered room makes for a cluttered mind. I like wide open, clean spaces. Though looking at my craft desk you would think otherwise. I’m getting on that right when I’m done posting here.

Lee Ann, LOVE taking those hot baths. It just seems to make the world right again. Even if my cat is outside peeking under the door at me ;)

Leigh, the weather was beautiful here also. I was so happy to open the window and let that fresh air into the house.

    I’ve blogged my adventure. http://savvyrogue.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-adventure-turning-page.html
Would love to hear your opinions and thoughts. I’m open.

Hi, everyone, I’m new, and I am creating my dream of my new business, AquaTails, wherein I make and sell mermaid tails. What’s funny is that I’ve been doing these assignments instinctively! This past week I received a beautiful simple corner shelf to match the one we already have in the living room, and I put it together and set it up in the opposite corner, and arranged all of my business materials, inventory, etc. on it, so all that stuff is no longer piled up on the floor. So my new business space is created, and it looks much better. For next week’s assignment, my mermaid team recently got to mermaid in the Denver Aquarium! Now that was an adventure, and quite scary at first!!! We hope we get the opportunity to do it again. The sea turtles really liked us. :-)

Oh, and I HAVE to go to that Capadocia Cave Hotel!!!

  7. I haven’t been doing the assignments weekly so my latest blog post isn’t on this week’s topic. Visitors are still very much welcome though. In this week’s post I talk about thwacking my inner critic with my success tracker.

  8. I’m completely new here! In fact, I’m not even sure what last week’s assignment was. I’m afraid that if I take time to read past posts, I’ll get overwhelmed with what I’ve missed so far, and I won’t ever start working to create my dreams.

I am a mixed-media artist, and one of the things I’m going to do to make room for my dreams is the very mundane task of cleaning my studio. As Reta suggests, it’s hard to be at our creative best in the midst of clutter. My husband is away for several days, so I’m going to use my extra free time to get my work space reorganized and clean. I’ve been on a major creative spree as I prepared for a juried show, and my work space is definitely showing it. I’ve been pulling supplies out left and right, and haven’t put a single thing away in days!

Can’t wait until Andrea gets back with pictures of her living room — not to mention her trip! That hotel looks really intriguing.

wow now that looks like an adventure! I agree with Reta and Cindy when they say it’s hard to create in a cluttered
studio space . That’s been a part of my problem lately the other part is letting myself be the writer, photographer,
scrapbooker and mixed media artist that I am. So now that I acknowledge this clearing out my little space will be
    easier

I had the opportunity to go to Marseille (French South City) and Italy this summer… that was quite an adventure,
which I savoured all the better that I scrapped it all along
