creating dreams come true: beginning a creative adventre

happy new year!  i am so looking forward to this year and to this creating dreams come true creative adventurecreating dreams come true is a free ongoing e-course and creative community to support you in living your dreams. if you are new, please feel free to join in. the more creative dreamers the better.  we are going to make some amazing things happen in our lives!

under the “creating dreams come true” button on the left, there is now a list of beautiful dreamers.  (if you want to participate but are not on that list, send me your name and blog/website and i will add you – if you did send me your name and it’s not on the list, i am sorry i missed you and please send it again) i am so grateful for each one of you who is joining me on this adventure.

i encourage you to visit each other and get to know your fellow dreamers.

here is how it is going to work:

i will be posting creating dreams come true posts every sunday.

one part of the posts will be different each week – they will contain dream-making resources, inspiration, ideas, worksheets, affirmations, challenges, etc.  (you are free to participate only in the activities that you feel inspired to participate in.  there are no obligations here, only opportunities.)

one part of the posts will be the same each week – a check-in.  this is where i invite you to come in and share what is happening with your dreams, show us what you’ve been up to and let us know what kind of support you would like.

i wanted to do something special to start this off, so i am going to give away this original mixed media paper doll called “dreams come true”:

dream come true

dreams come true

i will be sending her off to one lucky dreamer from  the creative adventure mailing list.  if you received an email about this in the last few days, you are on the list and will be entered in the draw.  if you did not receive an email, you can sign up here.  the draw will happen on sunday, january 10 (which is the day of my make it happen in 2010: creating a year of abundance, healing and possibility workshop in winnipeg).

and now to begin our creative adventure.

i am so excited about this.  it feels like we have all gathered at the bottom of a mountain, each of us bringing our unique gifts, tools and strengths.  as we pool those gifts, tools and strengths we find that we have more than enough of everything we need to get everyone to the top of the mountain.

that is the energy of creative community and that is the energy that we are creating in this adventure.

so – where are we going with this?   what mountain do you want to climb?  what do you really want in your life?

what i like to do is take a look at my whole life and really consider – what do i want each area of my life to look like?  for me, these areas begin with:

  • health
  • relationships
  • creativity/purpose
  • abundance
  • self-love/self-care
  • happiness/adventure

really everything in our lives falls into one of those categories but sometimes it can be helpful to add more categories when there are specific things you want to work on such as: home, education, etc.

sometimes this can feel overwhelming like OMG i have to figure out everything all at once?  what if i don’t know right now?

what if i get it wrong?

that is part of the beauty of having this kind of creative community and focus on creating dreams come true.  you don’t have to do it all right now.  you’re going to be immersing yourself in dream-nourishing energy all year long.  so there is no rush.

we start where we are and we make adjustments along the way.  when it comes to dreams, all movement is good, there is no way to get this wrong.

when i was taking new thought classes, one of my favourite homework exercises was to make a list of 100 things i wanted to do, be or have.  to come up with 100 stretches you to dream bigger and really expands your ideas of what is possible.  during that class, i came up with 150 dreams and most of them have come true already.

these kinds of lists really benefit from some incubation time.  so start your list now and work on it throughout the year.

this is not meant as a list of resolutions or a to-do list.  it’s more of a creative dream brainstorming session, gathering all sorts of dreams and ideas together.  challenging yourself to list more than 100 really opens you up to thinking in new ways and exploring what kind of fantastic new things you may want to create in your life.

if you’d really love to do something that seems 100% impossible, like traveling to the moon, and you know that you don’t want to commit to the kind of study and training that would make that possible for you, list it anyway.  listing everything, even when we know we’re not going to do the work necessary to make it happen in our lives, gives us permission to dream bigger and may open up a new opportunity.  we really don’t know what will happen, so we may as well put our big dreams out there.

your first assignment: the big list of dreams

  • start a list of however many dreams you can think of (small, medium and large dreams, silly dreams, serious dreams, important dreams, frivolous dreams – ask yourself “what do i want to do, be, or have?”)
  • post if on your website or blog (or facebook, or myspace, or anywhere!), if you have them. (if you don’t have your own site to post your list on, you will also be able to post it here in the comments section)
  • come back on sunday to share your list

posting it publicly is announcing to the world that these are your dreams and you are making them real now.  dreams that are hidden rarely come true.  even though it can be a scary move, when you put your dreams out there, you are providing them with more space to come into your life.

take a few days to work on your list before posting it.  on sunday january 3 i will post my list here and there will be a space where you can put a link to your list, so we can check out each other’s dreams and cheer each other on.

ready, set, go!

This sounds great! I have to admit I wonder if my dreams would be compatible with the average user of this site because I tend to visualize in more traditionally masculine terms like a James Cameron or typical Male Video Game Developer. (Predator, Aliens, The Rock, etc). I have the tools to create some pretty cool worlds with my knowledge of Java and 3d programming along with my access to resources like the free 3d modeling program “Blender” and Photoshop etc. Plus I have innate artistic talent– at least when it comes to pseudorealistic imagery. So I would definitely like to participate!

Thanks for this opportunity Andrea. I have started my list and it can be found here: http://winnsangels.blogspot.com/2010/01/of-dreams.html Please recognize that I was not really putting deep thought into this as I was writing it. Many of the dreams need explaining or at least further clarification. But it was so much fun to do. I will be adding to the list and I am definitely looking forward to participating.
