How To Hold On To Your Dream In Hard Times (in 4 steps) (with **NEW MEDITATIONS)

Me holding up my big journal open to a page where I've mapped out the 4 steps of holding onto your dreams in hard times.

First I want to say: let's acknowledge that no one has 100% easy times.

Like, that idea that your life needs to have enough space in it and you need to "feel ready" and have all the support you need to make your dream happen - that's a fantasy. That's never going to happen.

We're always dreaming in hard times, to some extent.

Being a visionary - seeing a thing you want to create or make different, seeing a better future - that's brave!!!

And then taking any steps at all towards making that happen is brave x a million.

But these are feeling like especially dystopian times, so I've been thinking a lot about how we hold onto our dreams... because the times when it's the hardest to hold onto them are the times when we need them the most.

Step one: Establish a daily-ish habit of creative dreaming.

(If you're NOT in the membership and reading this by email - this is what the free creative dreaming class is about! The link is at the top of your email.)

This is the one I want to talk about today. Because doing this alone seems like "not enough" and technically it's not enough to get you to where you want to be... but it puts you into a place of possibility so actually step 1 is everything AND it's always DO-ABLE.

You start doing this without any pressure to take the next steps. You create this practice that, in time, becomes a sturdy container for making magic happen.

You need a SIMPLE, ACCESSIBLE way of doing this that is INTERESTING and ENGAGING for you so that you keep doing it - it shouldn’t feel like a chore it should feel like DREAMING!!

Once you have this, you can take tiny steps into the rest of it as your capacity permits.

But having this creative dreaming practice HOLDS SPACE for the rest to happen. It HOLDS SPACE for you, your dreams, and the future you want to create. And it creates possibility. It puts you in the process.

For many years, my work began with what I now think of as step 2. This is how I was taught.  But over time I realized that another step was needed. Like, the step up to step 1 was quite high, you needed to already have motivation and to feel ready and have some things in place before you could take it.

So I created this smaller step, to bridge the gap between “not dreaming at all” and “full on making magic happen”.

Because your dream is meant for your life NOW.

If you dream of a thing now, this is a sign from your soul. It’s not a sign that you should feel pressured to make the thing happen ASAP. It’s a sign that this is your path, this is who you really are.

Your dream contains your medicine. You need it. And you deserve to have it NOW but you only receive it through engaging with the dream.

So creating a Creative Dream PRACTICE even when it’s not practical or realistic in any way to make changes in your life - creates space for you to receive this medicine, the healing and growth that your dreams are calling you towards. And this creates possibilities that you can't see right now.

I created the Dream Book 2026 program as a container to help you establish a Creative Dream Practice that works for you and fits in with your life.

(Dream Book 2026 is, of course, for the year 2026 but it will become something new in 2027 - it’s not going away and you can start any time)

Even though I am firmly in the “full on making magic happen” phase of creative dreaming, I find that having this practice also bolsters my work with my dreams and gives me a gentler/calmer space to just… SIT IN THE PROCESS when things are rough.

It means you're not choosing between "being full ON" and "being fully OFF" with your dreams. There's this in-between space to land and rest and process and restore... without dropping the whole thing.

Today I am adding 4 new Hello Day meditations to Creative Dream Incubator Membership.

The Hello Day meditation for energy clearing + intention setting - this is the basic practice of the Dream Book 2026 program. This meditation includes a LOT of mindset/intention work around trusting yourself with your dreams, believing in yourself, feeling capable to make the magic happen.

"Hello Day" refers to it being a daily-ish practice that you repeat often. Some SUPPORT for showing up for dreams along with your day, which I know I need these days!

Here are the four Hello Day style meditations, which help you shift from step 1 to steps 2-4 of Creative Dreaming:

Goodbye Day: End up day check-in

Space to show up, sit with yourself and congratulate yourself for showing up for your dreams today! And time to reflect on what happened, what you may have learned, and to leave a message or encouragement for your slightly-future-self tomorrow when you show up for your dreams again.

Hello Day: Showing up for my BIGGEST DREAM

Space to show up, sit with yourself and think about how you want to show up for your BIGGEST DREAM today.

Hello Night: Holding Intentions In Your Sleep

This one is to listen to right before bed to experiment with how to be more intentional about sleep... and maybe even manifest your dreams in your sleep!

Hello Day: Starting the day with the soul of my business

Space to show up, sit with the soul of your business, reflect on what's going on and think about your priorities for today.

All of these have the same kind of mindset/intention work around trusting yourself with your dreams, believing in yourself, feeling capable to make the magic happen.

And they help you shift into steps 2-4 of “four steps to hold on to your dreams in hard times” which are...

Step 2: Go DEEP into the alchemical process of navigating the outer, inner and dream work of making a dream real. (We do this in the Dream Book program and using the libraries of Creative Dream Alchemy practices yes this is a BIG JOB but you can take teeny steps)

Step 3: Have consistent check-ins to reflect, process, learn and refine your plan as you go. Also you can make a thing happen with NO plan... IF you are doing this part consistently. (We do this in the weekly Dream Status Reports which I share here on Sundays and Monthly New Moon Intention Setting Rituals)

Step 4: Get the support and encouragement you need to keep going. (The membership itself! The tools, classes, emails, reminders and invitations to show up for your dream)

Members: Check out the new meditations and please let me know if you have any questions!
