So gorgeous, right?
They only bloom for about 24 hours, they smell SO GORGEOUS the perfume fills my whole room.
This is a zig-zag or ric-rac cactus. I got it in 2020 at the height of the lockdowns when I developed a new hobby... watching a local plant shop's instagram posts about what plants they would be getting in each week, and then trying to get to the order form on the website on time when the shipment arrived and sales went live, because everything would sell out so fast.
I was so happy to get this plant. It was a labeled as in a 4" pot so I knew it would be small... but when I went to pick it up it was TINY.
I immediately felt ripped off.
Then when I looked closer - the plant was only in a 2" pot, which was buried inside the 4" pot.
After really enjoying the fun of following that plant shop and watching the new plants come in each week, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
But, I thought - it will grow. Right?
OMG it has grown.
And then last year it produced one of these amazing blooms. And this year - 4 blooms so far! With 4 more on the way!
I hardly ever remember that disappointment I felt when I first got this plant.
And when I do remember it just feels like this distant thing, like "oh that's too bad but it's a big happy healthy plant now". Also, that plant shop doesn't exist anymore and other plant shops have opened closer to me that just have better vibes - and better prices!
It just feels like... a thing can be a disappointing mess and we can call it what it is, we don't have to try to have a positive outlook about it.. AND at the same time... we can hold space for what we want to have happen next.
Like - all of that disappointment I felt when I first got this is now all of this magic I feel with this magical blooms.

It's always happening.
Things are always changing.
But you have to show up to RECEIVE the changes.
If it had just given up because I was so disappointed I wouldn't have these flowers. I had to show up, keep watering and feeding and making sure it had the right light and giving it a bigger pot when necessary.
Everything is always changing and you can help direct those changes and receive the blessings when you show up for your practice.
